Welcome, Conference and Event Manager
Sarah Robinson
Sarah joined GEMS as a Conference and Event Manager in February 2023. Her career in events spans over 20 years, starting in the UK as an Event Assistant at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

From there she joined SPS Conferences as an Event Manager, where she managed their portfolio of events throughout the UK and across Europe.

In 2007, after moving to Australia, Sarah joined Tulips Meetings Management, a boutique PCO based in Port Stephens. As their Conference and General Manager, she looked after a variety of events across Australia including conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and gala dinners.
Sarah has experience working with a wide range of clients including associations, corporations, societies, government, and not-for-profits.

She has a keen interest in sustainability within the events industry and enjoys working with clients, venues, and suppliers to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability outcomes.

An interesting fact that most people don't know about Sarah, is that she gained her BSc in Zoology from the University of Liverpool in 2002. Sarah now lives and works off-grid from her property on the beautiful Mid-North Coast of NSW.
Marvel Stadium Upgrade
Docklands, Melbourne
Marvel Stadium in the city of Melbourne is currently undergoing a $225 Million Victorian Government funded upgrade, which will be sure to secure it's position as a world-class sports, entertainment and business events venue.

Most excitingly, the upgrade will include a number of new premium function rooms, perfect for conferencing and business events, offering stunning views of the city and the field of play, with a 500 person capacity. We cannot wait to see the finished product!

AusCERT2023 - Cyber Security Conference
Back to the Future
Led by our Director of Operations and Senior Conference Manager, Peta Webster, many of the GEMS team recently travelled north to the sunny Gold Coast to assist in the delivery of the 22nd AusCERT Cyber Security Conference held at The Star in Broadbeach from the 9th to the 12th May.

This year’s event set a new attendance record with over 870 cybersecurity professionals from across Australia and internationally. With 18
pre-conference half and full-day workshops,
approximately 50 presenters across the two-day conference program, numerous social events and 50 exhibitors, this event was a non-stop hive of activity.

The AusCERT Conference is one of our largest client events and can only be a success with the collective support of trusted partners and suppliers.
Registering such a large number of delegates without the queuing is no mean feat, however, with the help from the Touchpoint team, delegates were able to check in using QR code self-check-in kiosks.

As this was a hybrid conference, GEMS developed an OnAIR software virtual conference platform with a bespoke user interface that we think would rival the likes of Netflix and Stan. However, the virtual experience was delivered seamlessly with the great support of AV services from the team at Consol.

The exhibition hall looked fantastic with the shell scheme build delivered by Pyramid Displays.

All in all, another fantastic conference experience for our team and we look forward to being back next year for AusCERT2024.
Spotlight on Adelaide
Business Events Adelaide Famil
If Adelaide hasn’t been on the radar for your next event, it’s time to reconsider. A member of the GEMS team was lucky enough to attend Business Events Adelaide’s Destination SA Famil (DSA) back in March and we encourage you to look at what Adelaide has to offer.

A three-day program, jam-packed with site-visits, venue inspections, and networking appointments left a lasting impression on attending event organisers for all the right reasons.
Highlights included the Welcome Reception, hosted by Light, an exciting new multi-level event space, a visit to Seppeltsfield Winery, and the Conference Dinner held in Adelaide’s Botanic Gardens. The catering provided across the three days was exceptional and showcased why Adelaide is one of Australia’s top food and wine destinations.
